An information service for Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing specialists working on or with Burned Area Emergency Rehabilitation (BAER)Teams. Discussions will include technical issues related to ESRI ARCGIS, ERDAS Imagine, and other appropriate software. Burned watershed runoff modeling will also be addressed at times by this list. This modeling will be performed by HEC, the USFS WEPP system and algorithms developed around the Revised Universal Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSL). Some data products used by this software will be global positioning system coordinates, elevation models developed by traditional computer cartographic methods as well as synthetic aperture radar (SAR). Some fire rehabilitation research pertaining to burn severity effects on vegetation will be conducted in coordination with the US Geological Survey, US Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management, EROS Data Center, SAIC, and other contractors. This list will be a key coordination tool for specialists dispatched to the field. They will keep one another informed of availability for assignments, notify one another of technical web pages of interest, and appropriate Visual Basic extensions for accomplishing the fast-paced, cartography-centric task of producing a burned area emergency rehabilitation plan. Key examples of this planning can be found on the web for the Cerro Grande, 24 Command, Missionary Ridge, and Rodeo-Chediski fires.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PalBoLat is intended to be a communication tool and a discussion forum for people working on Latin American paleobotany. It is targeted to established scientists, students (graduate and undergraduate) and anyone in between. PalBoLat is for the one interested in studying and understanding the biodiversity through the fossil record, the relationship between earth history and life history, evolution and the ancient Earth. For all of those who share a common interest: the biological and geological past of the Latin American region. PalBoLat was born after IX Latin American Botanical Congress in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. There, the presence of paleobotany was significatively lacking. PalBoLat is an experiment, a first step to unite the paleobotanical community in Latin America and who knows?! maybe a step towards a Latin American Paleobotanical Society!
A mailing list for users of the 'OOOFTI' - an in situ FTIR trace gas analyser developed at the University of Wollongong, in the Centre for Atmospheric Research
In this age of convergence scientific research is becoming a fusion of several disciplines. The field of geospatial information systems is also subject to this phenomenon. In order to address this complex, multidisciplinary milieu it is necessary that professionals from contributing disciplines come together on a common platform to discuss current issues and share their experiences and so contribute to this enormous body of knowledge. Keeping this in view 'Geospatial Science Forum' has been initiated by GIS Development that aims to be a facilitator for GIS Science. This mailing list is a part of this initiative, that aims to be a platform for dissemination of information related to Geographic Information Science - related news, events, workshops and more. Eventually this list aims to be a leading platform for discussions in the area of GIScience.
Novel methodologies and computerized brain mapping techniques will be developed to study the structure, function, and spatio-temporal changes in the human brain as well as the brains of non-human primates. The brainnetome atlas is an in vivo map, with more fine-grained functional brain subregions and detailed anatomical and functional connection patterns for each area, which could help researchers to more accurately describe the locations of the activation or connectivity in the brain. At this stage, the brainnetome atlas will facilitate investigations of structure-function relationships, comparative neuroanatomical studies, and promises new biomarkers for diagnosis and clinical studies. In the next step of the construction of the brainnetome atlas, it will go local instead of global and dynamic instead of static, which will be along with the other brain mapping information, such as genetic expression patterns, connectivity patterns and the spatio-temporal dynamic changes during normal development and the aging process, or in different disease states.
